The Band Line Up
Steve Layne; Guitar / Lead Vocals
Full details can be found on my Biog Page
John Worfolk; Lead Guitar / Vocals
“Worfy” as he’s affectionately known has been playing (On & Off) in various bands with Steve for well over 40 years now and the two formed the Hub of Solid Gold. A self confessed music addict, Worfy loves everything guitar, and more especially anything Vintage which explains the instruments on his guitar stands at any given gig, Fender, Gretch, Gibson, etc. etc accompanied by any one (or more) combinations of amps to produce tones that just sink you back to those golden years of music. (He also plays very mean modern guitar too but we don’t tell anyone)
Worfy’s Bandography is pretty impressive and includes The Outcasts, DLJ Trio, Mountain Dew, Nightlife, Country Style, Mark Lyndsey Sound, & "Next". All in all a very accomplished and highly respected guitarist who just loves playing.
George Evison; Drums Percussion
It's great to welcome George back to the band. George played with us for several years as part of Next and has been with a number of great bands throughout his career. I'll be putting together a Biog for him over the next couple of weeks.
John Cork; Bass Guitar / Vocals
Another "Ouse Beat" original and a founder member of the legendary "Tea Time Four" in the 60's "Corky" can rightfully claim to have been there and done it the first time around. Much sought after he continued through those golden years with top bands including Good News, The Likely Lads, Mountain Dew, Country Style, and later with Nightlife before "Next" came together. An accomplished musician with a laid back style, those infectious Bass Lines come to the fore on every performance.
Hope this brings you closer to "Solid Gold", but if there’s anything else you’d like to know please contact Steve, or come and chat to us at any of our gigs. We’d love to meet you.
